The Short
You can receive a $5,000 wage subsidy if you hire a digital "grasshopper" for 12-weeks to help you in the digital marketing, web development and data analytics areas (full list below), with this payment covering around 40% of their cost.
The Long
The nickname “grasshopper” was given to the young Caine by his Master back in the 1970s TV series “Kung Fu”, and while this term may have lost its original meaning some 50 years later, the idea of taking on board someone to teach and guide in the ways of the force (your business) is still a great way to foster new and exciting talent.
Below are details specific to the vic.gov.au Digital Jobs Program only. Watch this space for our Hire An Apprentice Grasshopper blog soon.
So what is the Digital Jobs Program?
· Subsidies job placement program.
· Program to support "mid-career" digital talent (over 30).
· Most participants have 10 years of work experience (in other fields) and have undertaken a 12-week training program prior to applying for placement.
· $5,000 wage subsidy for each 12-week; this will cover around 40% of their cost (the big one here!)
· Disciplines include digital marketing, web development and data analytics (see full list below).
Other Details
· Must pay (at least) minimum wage ($812.60 per week) over 12 weeks or in line with your relevant award.
· Additional details are provided at the link here.
· Recording of the information session held 26-Oct-22 here.
Limited to 5,000, so we suggest registering now so you don’t miss out.
Registering does not obligate you to anything - it does not bind you to recruit. You are not required to hire anyone until you are happy with them. All candidates are vetted by vic.gov.au first, then by you under your standard recruitment process, including CV review and interviews.
The only cost to you is their base wage, less your $5,000 subsidy. You must be able to provide supervision in association with the discipline hired – for example, if you hire someone with Web Development training, they must be hired by someone with Web Development experience.
